Mt. Cook or in Maori referred to as Aoraki is not only the highest mountain (3724m) in New Zealand but also one of the most impressive ones. As you take the road along Lake Pukaki, the mountain all of a sudden appears in front of your car and can not help but stop at the next parking lot and and take your time to look at the winding road leading towards the mountain. We did exactly that! Except we enjoyed it for about five hours. Well, I did.. Remo soon became bored and I had to come up with reasons why we couldn’t miss the stars. And do you think it was worth it? absolutely wanted to capture something unique and waited for the stars to appear, as the sky was fairly clear and the area belongs to a dark sky reserve. This final shot is a blend or three different scenes. One for the car-trails, one for the foreground and one for the stars. I finally found the time to process this shot and I am fairly happy with the outcome, although I will probably work some more on the image before I bring it to print. I will definitely come back to Mt. Cook one day! In the behind the scenes image shot by Remo Riederer you can see, that I was also blessed with a beautiful pink sunset, I will definitely process that shot as well![/av_textblock]
